Astronomy and Astrobiology: Are They Related?

Astronomy is an art natural science which studies different heavenly bodies and celestial phenomena with the help of telescopes. It makes use of astronomy, mathematics, and astrology in order to describe their formation and evolution from the point of view of the telescope. Most objects of interest to astrologers are comets, planets, stars, nebulae, satellites, comets, stars, and extrasolar planets. The study of stars and celestial objects helps us understand the relationship between the heavenly bodies and our own existence.

Astrology is an area of modern science concerned with the observation of celestial bodies and their relations to human life and affairs. It subfield concerns itself with the determination of birth dates, movements of planets around the sun, seasons, days of the year, and other apparent irregularities in the celestial environment. This field also studies physical and scientific properties of celestial objects and their interactions.

Astronomy and Astrology: What is the relation between these two subfields? According to the American Heritage Dictionary, “astrology” is the application to the skies of astrological predictions or advice, sometimes precise and useful. On the other hand, astronomy is a branch of science devoted to the study of celestial objects. It studies celestial objects in orbit around the earth and their interactions with the earth and its moon, with other space agencies such as NASA and the European Space Agency. The study of astronomical phenomena can be used to determine the positions and motions of celestial objects.

There are many theories on the relationship between astronomy and astrology. Some of these theories deal with cosmological or the theory of evolution of the universe and some with quantum mechanics. The latter relates the movement of atoms to the behavior of light, gravity and other celestial bodies. For example, the relationship between the Great Pyramid of Egypt and the planets revolving around it was found to be a result of the precession of the equator. A number of planets, comets and meteorites have been discovered to have a connection with ASTRONOMY.

Astronomy and astrobiology are closely related but independent disciplines. Astronomy deals with the observation and study of celestial bodies while astrobiology deals with the study of living organisms that may be found on or around these celestial bodies. Both are interested in finding out more about the universe. Astronomy mainly refers to scientific research performed to find out more about the origins of the universe, the nature of its structure, the composition of various stars and planets and the life that may be found on other planets and in the atmosphere of outer space. Astrobiology, on the other hand, is interested in the development of life on earth and the search for intelligence on other planets.

There are various centers and research interests across the globe, which deal solely with the areas of astronomy and astrobiology. Some of the centers include the Harvard College Observatory, The American Museum of Natural History, The American Association of Petroleum Geologists, The University of Arizona, The Australian National University, The Carnegie Institution of Washington and The University of Toronto. These institutions and others have developed extensive research interests and have worked hard to put together an impressive body of work that has produced many major breakthroughs in the area of astronomy and the natural sciences. Telescopes and planetariums have been built to help us understand the universe and the role played by stars in it. The search for aliens is also being pursued vigorously with the help of telescopes and other research interests.
